Why donate to A Place For Max?

The amount of children diagnosed with some type of developmental disability each year is on the rise. Today, almost everyone you talk to has a story to share about a relative or a loved one that has been diagnosed with some developmental disability or has been affected in some way or another.

Some are lucky enough to have families that can afford to help with the costs of a safe, loving home, but many find themselves having to rely on SSI (Supplemental Security Income). The maximum Federal amounts for 2023 are: $914 for an eligible individual, and $1,371 for an eligible individual with an eligible spouse.   These amounts are used to pay for housing, food, clothing, etc.  Now ask yourself, "Could I survive on $914 a month?"

Our mission is to provide a safe, loving community/home where adults with developmental disabilities can interact with one another and continue to grow and learn. Our vision is to have a community: small homes where they will live with their peers and a caregiver, a commissary where they will eat all of their meals together, a gymnasium where they will get exercise, a community center where they will have group activities such as music, arts & crafts as well as behavioral therapies. It should be noted that the picture on the homepage is just an idea of how we see the homes to be at A Place For Max.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit. Your generous donation will help us make our vision a reality and help pave the way for a brighter future for adults with developmental disabilities. Thank you.
